OUR CONCERN

Philosophy

Enable intercultural exchange

...what could be better than making music together and exchanging ideas with another culture...

Promote village community

...a joint project, perhaps a musical performance in the village soon. And anyone who wants to can make a contribution within their means...

Expand personal responsibility

... Every musician is in control of how quickly they progress in 'mastering' the instrument. Above all, he is not only responsible for himself, but also for the musical instrument...

Strengthen education

...we want to give young people in particular a perspective through meaningful musical education and thus promote participation, democracy and community...

Sense and Purpose

We want to playfully promote personal responsibility and self-efficacy in the context of making music.

Why are we called "Akosiwa"?

In EWE, the language spoken in Kusuntu, 'Akosiwa' means the Sunday-born. In many cultures, the Sunday-born is regarded as a 'lucky child'. Being able to make music in the community means 'luck'

HOW WE HELP

Our activities

Come and talk to us. Get to know us. We would be happy to tell you more about our project(s). We will be at the Christmas market in Pullach from 29.11.-01.12.2024. We sell handicrafts from Togo as well as a beautiful Togo picture calendar 2025, 100% of the proceeds go to the associations Togo-Hilfe e.V. and Akosiwa e.V. . ...

The music lessons take place twice a week and have become an integral part of the village community. The participants slowly 'groove' and find more and more joy in learning and making music. To date, the school has twenty-eight beginners and ten advanced students, totalling thirty-eight students. There are seven girls among the pupils, six of whom...

The time has finally come. The music lessons have started. Every Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm the 'beginners' are taught and every Wednesday from 6 pm to 7 pm the more experienced musicians. There are currently 4 music teachers and an instrument keeper from the village of Kusuntu.
